To all who made my BDay a little brighter, thanks for the thoughs and well-wishes.  My knee is doing better.  I have many months of rehab to go, but I feel like I am off to a good start. c=

Surgery Update

3 min read
Hello all,

Thanks for all the well wishes.  It has been 3 days since my reconstructive ACL surgery and things are going ok.  I am still in a lot of pain, but fortunately I have medication being directly injected into my femoral nerve so it isn't nearly as bad as it could be.  I am curious how it will be once that medicine runs out.  If you are interested in what the surgery did, here is a short video.  It's a crappy animation, so you don't have to worry about gross, graphical images:

The pain is bad, but the medication sucks because it makes me feel nauseated all of the time.  I am thinking here soon I wont need it anymore.  The best part of the whole thing is that they gave me these very seductive, thigh-high stockings to wear all of the time to reduce the risk of a blood clot forming in my legs.

 Super fashionable.

Anyways, things are going well.  I am mostly resrticted to lying in bed at the moment, and I have been doing a little bit of drawing here and there.  I appreciate the continued thoughts and look forward to getting well sooner than later. c=

Hello all,

It has been a long time since my last activity here, and I wanted to first apologize for that.  IRL problems have been stacking up recently and I have not been able to get around to art at all.  I have definitely fallen out of practice and I regret all of the distractions keeping me from achieving artistic milestones.
With that having been said, I have some pretty bad news.  This is going to be somewhat of a rant, so I apologize in advance.  Recently, I completely tore my ACL while playing the sport I love the most: soccer (football as it is more commonly known).  This is devastating to me for multiple reasons.  First, I tend to be a fairly active person and I do a lot of running, hiking, and other athletic recreations (and of course football).  As a result, I will no longer be able to do these things I love unless I get surgery.  Second, surgery is going to cost me somewhere in the ballpark of $5000.  This does not include all of the physical therapy that I am going to have to endure in the months following.  As you can imagine, surgery going to set me back financially by quite a bit.  Don't worry, I am not going to be asking for any money or donations.  I could very well just go the rest of my life not doing athletics.  This is my responsibility and the surgery is of my own choosing.
There is a possible silver lining that may or may not interest those reading this:  Though total recovery time is estimated at somewhere between 6 and 8 months, the first couple months or so I will be confined to my room and my bed.  This just so happens to be where my computer and tablet are located.  I am thinking  while I can't go to work or outside, and while I am under the influence of extra-strong narcotic pain-relivers, I might have the opportunity I need to get back to drawing and maybe opening commission (there is no doubt I could use the money).

So there you have it.  I am sorry the first thing I say after several months of silence is a complaint about how bad things are currently going, but I hope there is at least some kind of benefit that will come from it for those that still frequent my dA enough to care.  Thanks for the continued support. c=

Hello all,

Just as a heads up, I will be attending the annual NDK anime convention in Denver, Colorado this weekend.  Since it isn't a huge convention I know it is a long shot, but if any of you are attending it would be cool to meet up.  I don't get many opportunities, but it is always fun to see people IRL whom I have met on dA.  Not expecting anyone to be there, but just thought I would put it out there just in case. c=

I am in Halifax for work until early Saturday this week.  If anyone happens to live here I would love some advice on where to go and what to do.  I am not use to such a large city and vibrant atmosphere.  I am really enjoying my stay so far though, and hopefully I can get a little art done in my free time during my visit.  c=
